I have been taking Sophie’s yoga classes twice a week for nearly two years. They are appointment exercise each week in my calendar (Set to repeat weekly with no end date!) Foundations is great for two reasons: I like seeing the progress I make over the course of a month and I love the community of friends my family has made through Sophie’s Yoga Club! Our weekend travel plans revolve around getting home in time to unwind on Sunday nights at Yang Yin. Not only has Sophie’s gift for teaching poses and proper alignment added years to my life, but she has absolutely added life to my years through her positive and welcoming spirit. The love and light in Sophie truly brings out the love and light in her students. I am a better person physically and spiritually because of her!

It was because of her, and her willingness to answer all my burning yoga questions, that I chose pursue my yoga teacher training, and my life will forever be changed.

Her classes are structured to empower you with the knowledge to stay safe in any class and at home. Even as I dealt with shoulder injury and pain, Sophie provided all the modifications and strengthening exercises for me to continue and progress in my practice.

She was the perfect instructor to introduce me to the world of yoga and open my eyes to the many physical and mental benefits of developing a yoga practice. The welcoming and positive energy of her classes is felt as soon as you enter the studio. I always feel confident that I am practicing safely and I am so happy with the progress I have made in my practice. Even in a class with dozens of people, Sophie takes the time to make sure each person of getting the individual attention they need to maintain proper alignment and progress in their practice. As I was training for a half-marathon, I asked her to incorporate working on hamstrings into her upcoming flow. She took my suggestion and developed a great flow that provided the perfect balance to my running workouts. I have been practicing with Sophie for over 6 months now and I look forward to taking her classes every week!

Prior to practicing yoga with Sophie, I had taken some various classes around Syracuse. I often left those classes wondering if yoga just wasn’t my thing, as they were overcrowded and so much about athleticism and challenging poses. "Helpful to new and old yogis alike"

When someone new to yoga asks me to recommend a class, Sophie’s class is always top on my list. Her foundations class is super helpful to new and old yogis alike. She guides you through the movements, pointing out key elements of the poses. In Yin/Yang, you move through a flow and then Yin. In both classes, Sophie is great at assists, my favorite being the shoulder assist during savasana!!
